Marine Veteran Uncovers Disturbing Evidence in Remote Colorado Pond
High-heeled shoes found near pond
A Marine veteran from western Colorado, Levi Comstock, who goes by the handle @countertopepoxy on TikTok, believes he has stumbled upon evidence of a serial killer. During a four-wheeling trip near the Book Cliffs, Comstock discovered 10 pairs of women's heeled boots and shoes scattered around a remote pond. The shoes, varying in sizes and all inappropriate for the rugged terrain, have raised serious concerns.
Comstock first came across the pond when he climbed over a fence and found a high heel shoe, which seemed out of place but not alarming on its own. However, as he continued to explore the area, he discovered another shoe, and then another, until he counted 3 pairs of fancy high heels lined along the water’s edge.
Investigating further, Comstock walked along the shoreline and noticed the water level was unusually low. This revealed a rock path just under the surface, leading to a small island in the pond. On reaching the island, he found a piece of plastic sticking out of the mud, which turned out to be a snapped high heel. Returning another day, he found a new pack of nylons and more women's shoes. Over a few days, he found 10pairs of shoes.
Despite his alarming findings, the local sheriff's office initially dismissed his concerns. However, Comstock posted about his discovery on TikTok on May 13th, drawing significant attention. By May 16th, retired FBI agent @texascrimetravelers had been tagged in the video and expressed serious interest in the case, suggesting the need for a thorough investigation, possibly involving sonar equipment to search the pond.
"How did they get there? They aren’t walking," the retired agent noted. "The police aren’t interested, but it would be worth getting a boat out there and dredging. What is the use of the pond, and how accessible is it? If this is something nefarious, it’s someone familiar with the area. How hard is it to get a boat up there?"
Since the video’s release, a scuba diver named Micah Roe has volunteered to dive into the pond, and as of the end of May 16th, the police have begun investigating the site. Commenters on Comstock’s video have suggested photographing the shoes and posting them on missing persons pages, hoping they might be recognized. Others recommended reaching out to the local Native American community, given the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous people.
